HIS STATUE IS ERECTED IN FRONT OF CHENNAI CORPORATON BUILDING . AN AUDITORIUM IN THEAGARAYA NAGAR IS NAMED AFTER HIM .FREE MIDDAY MEALS SCHEME FOR POOR STUDENTS WAS PLANNED AND IMPLEMENTED BY HIM BORN NEAR CHENNAI IN A WEALTHY FAMILY ON 27 APRIL 1852 1876 - GRADUATION B.A MADRAS UNIVERISTY THROUGH PRESIDENCY COLLEGE 1882 - ENTERED PUBLIC LIFE AS MEMBER, MADRAS MUNICIPAL CORPORATION AND SERVED FOR 40 YEARS AND SERVED AS CHAIRMAN BETWEEN 1920-23 SUPPORTED IPROVED METHODS OF WEAVING AND SOUGHT GOVRNMENT SUPPORT TO HANDLOOM AND COTTAGE INDUSTRIES ELECTED TO THE MADRAS LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL IN 1910 BECAME CHAIRMAN OF SOUTH INDIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 1887-1924 - FOUNDER, THEAGARAYA GROUP OF INSTITUTIONS AND MEMBER, CHAIRMAN PACHIAPPA'S TRUST 1889 - ESTABLISHED VICTORIA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE 1887-1924 - MEMBER, CONGRESS PARTY 1917 - ONE OF THE FOUNDER, JUSTICE PARTY. IN 1920, JUSTICE PARTY GOT DECISIVE MAJORITY AND HE WAS INVITED TO BE A RESPONSIBLE MEMBER OF THE MINISTRY, BUT HE DECLINED THE INVITATION. 1909 - HONOURED WITH TITLE - RAO BAHADUR, CONFERRED 'DEWAN BAHADUR' AND LATER 'SIR' IN 1918 AND IN 1920 1922 - RECEIVED PRINCE OF WALES IN MADRS PORT 1923 - JUSTICE PARTY WINS AGAIN, BUT LOSES MAJORITY . ESTABLISHED FRIENDSHIP WITH TAMIL SCHOLARS LIKE U.V.SWAMINATHA IYER , THIRU.VI.KA, PERIAR 'E.V.R', WELL VERSED IN ALL SOUTH INDIAN LANGUAGES, HINDI AND URDU. ESTABLISHED DEVANGA YOUTH WING IN COIMBATORE 1918 -28 ELECTED AS VICE PRESIDENT, COIMBATORE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL TOOK ACTIVE PART IN PROMOTING WELFARE OF SCHOOLS AND TEACHERS. PASSION AT WORK , HIGH SENSE OF INTEGRITY, EXEMPLARY CHARACTER, WILLINGNESS TO HELP OTHERS COULD GET HIM A LARGE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AND QUICK PROMOTIONS.
